Learn More: Maximizing Impact Project

Overview

OneJustice’s Maximizing Impact Project is a free 6-month training program dedicated to providing space for leaders of immigration legal services organizations throughout California to explore how to most strategically deploy their limited resources while balancing sustainability and impact. With a focus on peer learning and discussion, participants will receive support in implementing effective practices and tailoring their services to meet community and staffing needs.

Training Focus Areas:
  • Theories of Change & Logic Models: What are we trying to do and how do we hope to achieve our goals?
  • Data-Driven Planning:  How will we know if we are accomplishing our objectives and maximizing our impact?
  • Navigating Financial Considerations:  How do we make sure we can afford and sustain what we want to do?
  • Utilizing Tech in Immigration Legal Aid: How can we be innovative in our work?
  • Strategic Planning:  How can we maximize our impact for the long-term?
  • Staff and Volunteer Resource Allocation: How do we best utilize our resources to accomplish our objectives?
In addition, participants will work on a “Capstone Project” — a culminating project that provides an opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills gained in the program to a current challenge or opportunity within your organization. While your focus will be your own organization, it is likely that other participants may be working on similar projects, so there will be many opportunities to share ideas and learn from others. Participants should allocate roughly 2 hours per month outside of scheduled sessions to work on their capstone project. Participants will share an oral presentation of their projects during the final sessions. You will also have the opportunity to receive 1:1 individualized coaching and consulting to support with implementation of your organization’s capstone projects.

Apply for the Program

The deadline to apply for the 2024-2025 year is closed. Please follow us for the next application cycle.

Admission
Enrollment is open to individuals who have decision-making authority at immigration legal services organizations. This can include program directors, legal directors, executive directors, and others with decision-making authority. We strongly encourage (but do not require) that you form a team of two to three people for the course. The additional team-members do not need to have decision-making authority at their organizations. All team members MUST commit to participating in all the sessions.

Please note: this new program is different from OneJustice’s other programming, including the Executive Fellowship Program, and is open to individuals who have previously participated in the Executive Fellows program, as well as individuals who have not participated in that program.
