About Lesson

The first session on Evolving Your Leadership Style for Greater Impact will be taught by Nelson Layag, who is a certified leadership coach and organizational consultant specializing in social justice and nonprofit organizations. Here is the zoom link to the training.

Training Objectives:  

This training will explore common leadership competencies that you can develop to support your growth. We will review and apply strategies for managing change using multiple frameworks: Wheel of Change, Adaptive Leadership, VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity). At the end of the training, you will have an increased awareness of leadership behaviors others consider most important and have a stronger understanding of the intersection of change, transition, and adaptive challenges. Finally, you will identify personal behaviors and practices that you can lean into that will have an impact on how you will lead your organizations and team. 

 

  1. Read and Review Community Agreements (3-6 minutes) Strategic Leadership Community Agreements .docx Reflect on which 2-3 (besides Confidentiality) are you want to focus on or lean into during the session together because it may be challenging for you, important for you, or something that would benefit the group and yourself the most. See attached in Exercise Files.
  2. Read Article on VUCA (3-7 minutes) Navigating Uncharted Waters: Leadership in a VUCA World — Monisha Kapila
  3. Pick 3 critical values that guide your leadership. (3-10 minutes) Here’s a list but you can come up 3 on your own. Dare to Lead | List of Values – Brené Brown
