Bringing even more help to rural Californians

Julia Wilson receives a 2017 James Irvine Foundation Leadership Award

Today, the James Irvine Foundation announced that our CEO, Julia Wilson, has been named a 2017 Leadership Award recipient.  The award comes with $200,000 in recognition of Julia and OneJustice’s work broadening access to legal assistance in rural and isolated communities throughout California.

We are all so proud of Julia and the Pro Bono Justice team at OneJustice working to improve the lives of rural Californians.  We’re grateful to the Irvine Foundation for this recognition and support to continue to expand the scale and scope of the rural justice work.

But most of all, we are thankful for the rural legal aid nonprofits and staff who are on the front lines every day, doing heroic work with meager resources.  They are the heart and soul of this work, and the best colleagues and partners one could imagine. California must allocate more funding and more pro bono resources to support these nonprofits – and to reach their client communities.

Help us spread the word on social media, so that we can all inspire new audiences to help expand legal assistance to Californians in need – regardless of where they live.
