Eligible Organizations
All legal services organizations are eligible to apply. Special consideration will be given to organizations serving non-urban communities. We particularly encourage staff to apply from organizations with offices located, or serve clients residing, in the following counties:
- Marin
- Merced
- Monterey
- Napa
- San Benito
- San Joaquin
- Santa Cruz
- Sonoma
- Solano
- Stanislaus
Time Commitment
One hour every week for 3 months.
Online Sessions
Weekly online sessions on topics specifically tailored for legal services organizations, taught by expert OneJustice faculty.
Zoom
The Academy will use Zoom, which is easy for anyone to use. No technical experience needed!
Peer Coaching Calls
Facilitated peer coaching calls give participants a safe space to share and receive feedback.
Individual Coaching Calls
Participants will have access to individualized coaching with OneJustice faculty.
Online Academy Library
The Academy will feature an online library of resources for further learning.
Pro Bono Transactional Support
Participants will be connected to corporate law firms for pro bono transactional support (e.g., real estate or intellectual property).

We ask that all participants commit to fully engaging in the Capacity Building Academy. Participants that attend at least 8 sessions will be eligible for an additional 45-minute coaching call from OneJustice staff.

Dana Marquez Richardson
Program Manager, Healthy Nonprofits Program
Dana provides public policy advocacy support on federal and state issues that impact all Californians. This work includes advocating for access to justice for all Californians and the health of the legal nonprofits that support them. Her areas of expertise include children and youth focused issues and rural access.
Chris McConkey
OneJustice Senior Staff Attorney
Chris advocates for public policies that foster the growth of legal nonprofits and—through them—meaningful access to justice for all Californians. He also provides consulting and technical support to legal services organizations on matters of nonprofit law and management.

Amy coordinates and facilitates pro bono convenings and supports OneJustice's pro bono clinical programs. Learn more about Amy here!
Staff Level
Enrollment in the Capacity Building Academy is open to nonprofit legal services staff of all levels and job areas (from administrative to legal staff and beyond) who want a crash course on program management skills.
We strongly encourage (but do not require) that you form a team of 2-4 people for the course. Have each member of your team submit a separate application.
